Accessibility of a great number of online chemistry journals is subjected to a mixed paying policy: the publisher may grant free access to a selected set of volumes (issues) while the admission to the rest of the database may be open just to subscribers or paying visitors. Quite often the information on the availability status is hidden deeply in the publisher's website pages and this complicates finding the free part of content.
The Directory makes this task easier by listing the fully and partly free journals that comply with the following criteria:
· publisher's grading of a journal as peer-reviewed;
· one-year, at least, free full-text content, or extensive free supplements to printed versions of papers;
· chemistry or chemistry-related subject coverage;
· English language of articles (journals in Russian are also listed on a separate page).

Every effort is made to ensure that all articles are posted on the website in streamlined, easy-to-access HTML format. PDF versions of articles are now being made available for new issues in addition to HTML format. In some cases, where HTML format cannot be created, PDF documents may be available to improve accessibility to that journal.
Bioline does not hold or require exclusive agreements with participating journals. All participants provide their material on an open-access basis and are encouraged to make their material available through other websites, indexing services and other web-resources. Bioline will continue to work with new and existing journal participants to improve visibility and readership through the various web resources that are available. Bioline will also help journal participants to promote their journals through other relevant projects and initiatives as they arise.

The SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS) is a Digital Library portal for researchers in Astronomy and Physics, operated by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) under a NASA grant. The ADS maintains three bibliographic databases containing more than 6.7 million records: Astronomy and Astrophysics, Physics, and arXiv e-prints. The main body of data in the ADS consists of bibliographic records, which are searchable through highly customizable query forms, and full-text scans of much of the astronomical literature which can be browsed or searched via our full-text search interface. Integrated in its databases, the ADS provides access and pointers to a wealth of external resources, including electronic articles, data catalogs and archives. We currently have links to over 7.3 million records maintained by our collaborators.

SciELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online is a model for cooperative electronic publishing of scientific journals on the Internet. Especially conceived to meet the scientific communication needs of developing countries, particularly Latin America and the Caribbean countries, it provides an efficient way to assure universal visibility and accessibility to their scientific literature, contributing to overcome the phenomena known as 'lost science'. In addition, the SciELO model comprises integrated procedures for the measurement of usage and impact of scientific journals.Provides free access to scientific journal articles from Brazil, Chile, Cuba, and Spain
SciELO Model is product of a partnership among FAPESP (http://www.fapesp.br)– the State of São Paulo Science Foundation, BIREME (http://www.bireme.br) - the Latin America and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information, as well as national and international institutions related to scientific communication and editors. A pilot project, involving 10 Brazilian journals from different subject areas, was successfully carried out from March 1997 to May 1998, aimed at the development and evaluation of an adequate methodology for electronic publishing on the Internet. From June 1998, the project begins to operate regularly, incorporating progressively new journal titles and expanding its operation to other countries. Since 2002, the Project is also supported by CNPq (http://www.cnpq.br) - Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento CientÃfico e Tecnológico.

DLA, a department in the University Libraries at Virginia Tech, evolved from the Scholarly Communications Project (SCP) begun in 1989. Our focus is to work with the university community to host born-digital works, beginning in 1991 with faculty-edited electronic journals. In 1995 we began envisioning ETDs completed by VT graduate students. In 1996 SCP and the Special Collections Department merged to enhance access to rare books, manuscript collections, and the University Archives. We formally renamed the combined departments in 2000 the Digital Library and Archives.
In 2007 DLA and Special Collections returned to being separate departments while continuing to collaborate to enhance online access to the library's unique and rare archival resources. The VT ImageBase hosts historical photographs as well as more contemporary images from the International Archive of Women in Architecture. DLA also created and maintains online resources such as the IAWA Biographical Database and the Survey Database where data is both collected and displayed. In April 2007 we began gathering documentation from the out-pouring of sympathy, some of which is available from the VT Memorial Archive, a collaboration with Rutgers University. DLA is in the process of developing the Prevail Archives for the university's historical materials related to those tragic events.

Behavioral and Brain Sciences publishes important and controversial interdisciplinary articles in psychology, neuroscience, behavioral biology, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, linguistics and philosophy.
